About Amy Duke . . .

You can find Amy Duke, 35, on Saturday mornings bantering with Dan Derrringer, the producer and front man of the popular TV series Motorcycle TV. The show caters to the free willing, fun loving biker set which daily grows by leaps and bounds. Amy’s intro into the exhilaration of biking occurred when her dad purchased a Honda 850. She was eight years old and riding behind him as he tore down country roads was as thrilling to her as a plunge down a rollercoaster. While Amy’s long dark helmeted hair was blowing in the wind, her mother’s was turning prematurely grey.
As Amy grew, so did her interest in the activities of local bikers. Her older brother Chuck, a professional musician, frequently let her accompany him to biker gatherings where he performed. As often as not, these events were intended to raise funds for someone in need. Amy was always impressed with the compassion and friendliness which the bikers showed towards each other and towards strangers alike.
A third generation Floridian, Amy married a Norwegian exchange student in 1990. This resulted in a number of visits to Europe which fueled her desire to explore new places and meet new people. She graduated from FSU in 1993 with degrees in English and teaching. Then she moved to her husband’s hometown in the “Land of the Midnight Sun.” This Florida girl did not find living above the Artic Circle particularly appealing. Granted, Norway was beautiful, but she wasn’t taken with freezing weather, roaming herds of reindeer, nor the salmon dishes served three times a day. So, she packed up her college degrees and duffle bag and headed home to the US of A where she promptly landed a job teaching junior high students in Frostproof.
She had only three years under her belt when she was named the school’s number one teacher. She went on to be included in the lineup of top ten educators countywide. After twelve years of teaching 8th and 9th graders, she still loves her job, loves her students, and especially loves her summers off. The time off enables her to follow her love of travel. In fact, she recently snow-skied down the slopes of Tahoe. Last year it was a convertible drive along California’s picturesque Pacific Coast Highway. Her favorite destination, however, is NYC which she has visited frequently. Amy avidly looks forward to shooting on location with Dan where the people she meets she says, “Are awesome!” While she doesn’t have her own “ride” yet, she is saving up. In the meantime, she says she’ll mooch rides off Dan.
When Amy is not filming, she enjoys fishing, reading, going to the gym, and doting on her grumpy white cat, Little Jimmy.
